Project #2

I have hundreds of pieces of paper with recipes printed from the internet laying in every drawer in the kitchen. So I decided I wanted a recipe box so that I could type them all onto index cards, and have them fit in one convenient spot. Thus began the recipe box project.

I started off with this :

I painted the box with red acrylic paint. Then I cut pieces of scrapbook paper to fit on the top of the box. Then I cut out a bird from the same paper, and slapped it on the front. Mod Podge it all together and this is what you get :

Cost Wrap-Up
Wooden Box - $2.50 with a 50% Michael's coupon
Red Acrylic Paint - $0.67
White Acrylic Paint - $0.67
Polka Dot Scrapbook paper - $0.59
Total Cost = $4.43

What I learned from this project?

I learned that I either need to buy stencils, or never try to paint words onto anything ever again. My hand is just not steady enough!

"Or as we used to call it, arts and farts and crafts..."

Today I decided to make some decorations for my massage therapy room! I'm very happy with how they turned out. I started with:

4 unfinished 5x5 wood squares

3 sheets of scrapbooking paper

A jar of Mod Podge, and a jar of Espresso Bean acrylic paint.

First I painted the wood squares. Then I cut out squares from the scrapbooking paper to fit on the wood squares. I Mod Podged the papers in place, and came up with this:
Cost Wrap-Up:
4 5x5 Wood Squares : $2.80
One Jar of Acrylic Paint: $0.67
Scrapbooking Paper (3 Sheets) : $0.87
Total Project Cost = $4.34 (before sales tax of course)

Now to hang them on the wall :)
