The $20 Challenge

My dear husband doesn't understand the joy of couponing. His argument is that couponing just makes people buy things that they don't need, or won't use, just to get a deal. Which I guess could be true, although I know many people that get free items via couponing and then donate them to animal shelters, hospitals, or send them to Iraq. So I don't know. He decided to give me $20 to see what I could do, saying that everything I bought had to be something that we need or would use. I chose Target and Meijer as my stores of choice for this challenge, and off I went.

  1. Nice! But are you using everything you bought? Or donating? Either way, that is awesome

  2. Most of what was picked up today is stuff we use on a regular basis in the house. I've gotten free/extremely cheap dog food and treats and donated that to animal shelters in the area, but couldn't find any of those deals today :)

  3. Some good deals! How did your husband react when he saw your great bargains? My husband also hates coupons...but more because it makes our trip to the store longer and sometimes the store employee won't take them and he gets embarrassed. But when you get deals like that, how can you resist?

  5. Lisa - He is now sold on the idea of couponing, as long as he doesn't have to go with me. He tends to get embarassed, but when he looked over the receipts from this particular trip, his face lit up! haha. And he couldn't argue with my purchases because it was all things that we use frequently.
